That Pedobear Meme

                                                  That Pedobear Meme

So I'm flipping through cable at the folks when I happen upon Mad TV on Cartoon Network. As the show is reasonably funny, I stop to watch. I'm not familiar with todays' TV but I knew what they were lampooning when the Grey's In Anime segment came on. Their whacking away at various tropes certainly got a chuckle or ten out of me. At one point a green version of THAT MEME  popped up. As an afficianado of warped humor it got a yuck out of me. Later ..... that ..... day .....

Again, channel surfing whereupon I finish up an episode of King of the Hill also on CN. Between shows the Adult Swim programming block has these quick "typewritten" bumpers funny in themselves. This one was in praise of older folks out of touch with todays' technology & how good they have it. Well, up pops THAT MEME again.

"If you have a net connection you'd know what this means, & you don't want to . Stay classy old people."

This, of course, got a small hoot out of me. But ..... I wonder.

In the past, we have laughed at & put down things that have later become mainstream & accepted. In this broken world of ours, some of those things served only to downgrade & make life more sordid than it should be. This could be one of them.

I hope what I had seen is not a precursor of "things to come" (The NAMBLA creatures & others would love it.).

Now there are those whose tastes run toward that sort of thing. In the case of adolescents watching cartoon porn of fictional adolescents in x-rated situations this can be "excused" as they're just horny kids. Boys will be boys, girls will be girls. But for older folks looking at any "underage" hentai & adolescents looking at pre-teen character anime porn, well, I wonder about you.

Many justify this by saying it doesn't fall under the legal definition of child porn as real children aren't in it. True enough. As a "small L" libertarian I usually agree with the concept of "no victim, no crime". Howsomever ..... It's still child porn nonetheless, albeit the kind one can't be arrested for possession of. It depicts (fictional) children in x-rated situations.

One can argue they would never harm a real child or have actual child porn in their possesion ...... but ..... If one is into those sub genres of hentai, I would not recommend one seek employment/career in the field of child care. Just my opinion.

  1. Small "l" is still dangerous territory. As you say, it is STILL child porn. I love anime, but like anything else, there is a dark underbelly, especially when you have such a socially repressed culture like Japan's. Weirdness pops out in so many ways. (Those freaky vending machines, f'rinstance.)

When sexuality is completely separated from covenant, bad things happen.

Yeah. Small "L" is supposed to allow for a LOT but ya gotta draw the line somewhere.

I read someplace that those "freaky vending machines" are quite rare & only found in parts of the "rougher" areas like Osaka, etc.
