Of Sticks 'n Stones: Something I Found on the Net

Of Sticks 'n Stones: Something I Found on the Net

Thought you might find this interesting. Found it on the interbutts ... forget where ... On some message board thing. It's in reply to some obviously lofty, naive declaration of some kind, on the nature of man and the world.

Right click and open in new tab/window.

Here's text as follows:

Since our hairy asses began to walk upright, we had one major goal as men: To make everything within eyesight bend to our will. We broke bones and cut our flesh rending the ground beneath us into something hospitable in an otherwise brutal and unforgiving nightmare. We fought every beast we could find in a quest for dominance, then, when we stood atop the mound of corpses of every creature that wished to do us harm, we moved on to the most dangerous game; Ourselves.

We fucking chased down game until it died of exhaustion. We beat each other to doom-esque gore piles with our goddamn fists.

Then we realized rocks and sticks work better. We had a fucking bronze age. Fuck your textbook; That guy who found metal wasn't saying, "Oh, I could til more soil with this." He was saying, "Well fuck! I could cleave way more heads than Ogg over there with this sharp shit!"

And we started battling. For almost every fucking ancient city, we had a group of men dedicating to smiting other men. We used that to shape the world into other nations, testing themselves against a tide of ever raging war to see who could stand on their own lust for fucking death.

Samurai, pirates, knights. We all knew them as children. Why?

We didn't grasp feudalism. We didn't ponder their technical advancement over their foes. We knew they were good at one thing. War. And we wanted to be ... Just ... Like ... Them.

Parade all you want about one small speck of humanity that did the same dance as our common ancestors, because you're still right, albeit stupid. You don't know if you want to swim in dark water. You don't know if you want to play with spiders. You don't know if you could eat a raw eel. But you and almost every man alive knows he's willing to kill if he needs to. Regardless of who you love, where you come from, what you worship, you're still a goddamn human. And war is your craft.

That ominously strange website I grabbed the title illustration from here.

Attention Homosexuals: The Joke ... Is On YOU

Affects me not at all. It will however affect your descendants.
Or rather ... lack of them.

Attention Homosexuals: The Joke ... Is On YOU

No doubt you're still celebrating your Supreme Court "victory"  from last week.

No doubt some of you are chomping at the bit (Among other things.) to have a go at those crazy preachers and court clerks who may refuse to officiate your "unions". Not to mention possible implementation of measures, rulings and lawsuits in the suppression of criticism, free speech and opposition from a lot of those "breeders" out there.

You will notice that NOT ONE of your past victories on the issue of homosexual marriage had anything to do with the will of the general population. It was all on judicial fiat. Once again that judicial fiat triumphs over the will of the people.

You might point out surveys and polls indicating otherwise however the fact of the matter is that polls and such are not official ballot counts.

All this judicial posturing is however, moot.

The fact of the matter is ...

THE JOKE'S ON YOU

You ... have lost.

How is that you might ask?

The answer is simple.

NATURE ... has the last say.

Think about it.

The vast majority of you will NEVER have children.

In cutting short your genetic line, your earthly immortality, you have chosen extinction. You will never have descendants. A thousand years from now there won't be anyone looking something like you running around.

As the song goes, There will never be another you.

It will be as if you had never been.

Survival, genetic or otherwise, is its' own justification and in your choosing your dance to oblivion you have "unjustified" yourselves.

Just sayin' ...

Rabbits, Actual & Human

                                                           by

                                                              Jay Agan

At an unmentionable merchandising/grocery chain I cashiered at, I would often banter with the customers, usually about the items they bought. Many was the time I would refer to birdseed as "organic cat food". The vast majority of these clientele had a sense of humor/proportion & would smile at the joke without a further thought. These are "kinder, gentler" times howsomever & a "correct thinking" type would take offense every so often.

One such was a "lady" with her little boy in tow. On hearing my comment on cats finding birdseed useful, she rhapsodied on how wonderful our feathered friends were & how they brightened the world about us. Being an ex country boy myself, I gave a vignette or two about things I had seen in nature over time. She mentioned bluejays being so pretty. I replied offhand on what little killers they could be when there were enough of them around. Niether she nor her kid showed any emotion as we conversed.

About a quarter hour later, the manager takes me aside saying a customer reported I had distressed her child with my bluejay comment, & would I be oh so very careful in the future as to not make children sad, etc. I don't recall the kid being "distressed" in any way, shape or form. He was just, well, there & nothing else. My guess it was the mother who was the one distressed. A problem with working in a place with a pharmacy, is you too often encounter over/under medicated people. As an animation fan, I often wonder what an effect a film like Watership Down would have on such folks.

Made in the late 70s era of pre-political correctness from the book by Richard Adams, Watership Down is a no holds barred look at nature in the raw. It is the film Bambi should have been but Disney couldn't bring himself to make (Felix Saltens' book was quite fatalistic & brutal.).

A group of rabbits leave their overcrowded warren in the face of impending doom (suburban construction) in search of a new home. They face several trials & predators as well as competition from a "police state" rabbit warren nearby.

This film contains several scenes of fighting, death, (yes, rabbits can & do kill) & spilt blood. The life of a bunny is not an easy one & a lot of "Disney myths" are dispelled. The only "spoiler' I'll reveal is the film shows death & life are intertwined, one being a part of the other. I can think of no better movie for kids to cut through the ritalin haze to reality.

I remember Old Yeller putting me through an emotional roller coaster but as I got older, I started seeing life as it is. I began to notice death is all around. Roadkills, birds fighting, pet dogs & cats out hunting, etc. I found that critters not moving fast enough ended up as lunch. People can be like that if one is not careful. Life is hard. Harder if your'e deluded. And no amount of shielding yourself & your children from reality will ever change that. You only set yourself & the kids up for a hard fall if you do.

Life can be good however. Just keep your eyes open.
