New Stooges! Will "Curly" Sasso, John "Moe" Diamontopoulos & Sean "Larry" Hayes.

      Sorry anime fans, this is not the moe' some of you strange ones are into. Nothing cute, feminine, or frilly about it. This is the in your face, eye poking, wise crackin', English fracturing, VIOLENT (In a fun way.) Moe we oldsters grew up with.

      I recall when Screen Gems released the old Columbia short comedies to TV on an unsuspecting generation in the fifties & thus ruining/enhancing the childhood of millions. As a kid in Elmira, NY. I would watch the daily episodes religiously. Moe was my mentor, Curly my idol, Larry my moderator.

      I had misgivings when I heard this movie was in progress but after seeing the trailors, some of them have been disspelled. Diamontopoulos' Moe looks spot on. Sassos' Curley also. Hayes' Larry is great.

      Supporting cast looks good too. Larry David as ..... Mother Mengele? Great name! And appropriate. If the trailers are any indication, it affirms my views about nuns growing up as a "good Catholic boy".Not a fan of nuns.

      So, I'm going to take this in come April. Hopefully the movie lives up/down to its trailers.

     Autumn, 1989. Read in the Arts & Entertainment section of the Columbus Dispatch there was going to be a Three Stooges film fest at the Palace Theater. Eight episodes of low brow humor as only those three jerks could do. Had to see it & went.

     The Palace Theater isn't called THE PALACE THEATER for nothing. Located ground level of the Levesque Lincoln Tower in downtown Columbus, Ohio, it's ..... well ..... palatial. Very ornate & gaudy inside, a treat for the eyes. A baroque opulence you must be present to experience. A grand throwback to the time when going to the movies was an EVENT.

     A local celeb (Who I can't recall.) was there, but a real extra treat was a fellow who billed himself as "The Man Who Would Be Curly." Had the schtick down beautifully too.

     Can't remember most of the eps they flashed on the BIG screen (Those little screens at multiplexes just don't hack it.). Except for Disorder In the Court & Malice In the Palace, it was mostly a blur. Especially the last four. Here's why.

     After the fourth ep, intermission time. I decided to wander around the cavernous theater & take in the sights. I stumbled upon a fantastically ornate room & went in to admire the decor & furnishings. While there, I noticed a restroom at the far end. After a while, I decided to leave. As I left, two women went past me going in, looking at me quite strangely. Huh? Then it hit me.

     I quickly glanced up at the top & to the side of the ornate rooms' entrance.

                                                          WOMEN

     Dashing back to the auditorium, I whipped off my camoflauge field jacket, revealing my sweater. If the ladies were going to give a description, it wouldn't be about some mad voyeur in a bright red sweater.

I was really cursing myself: "Idiot! Pay attention jerkwad! I don't believe I ..... You dumb, stupid ..... This is something those three idiots would do! You moron! Stupid! Stupid! STUPID!!" A lot of other things too.

     I sat off to the right side of the theater slumped down, trying to look as much a part of the scenery as possible. My reasoning was they would be looking for someone leaving, & I was bound & determined to finish this viewing of the films. The rest of the presentation went off OK, me scanning the room every few minutes for wrathful ushers bent on rooting out "sick boy". Nothing happened.

     Leaving the theater, I didn't stop for souveniers or candy, putting on my field jacket when I was blocks away.

     Oooooooo! I was almost a victim o' soicumstance! Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk!

  1. The Kaiju of Haruhi Suzumiya (American release title: Haruhi vs Godzilla)- A humungous closed space forms just north of Tokyo, & something other than "blue meanies" is stomping around inside. This, as a result of Haruhi retiring after an extended bout with some bad movies & a peanut butter & anchovy pizza. Itsuke & company have more than their hands full.

  2. In a universe.....threatened by the ultimate evil.....comes the ultimate heroine.

                                          Well. She is ultimate after all.

  3. Nagakohime- He.....was a future world leader.
    
      The Fujiwara sisters..... were part of his entourage.
    
      She.....was the brash tomboy wanting to tag along.
    
      He.....was at first, turned off, then amused.
    
      They.....tried to disuade her.
    
      She.....would not be denied!
    
      Just another dumb romance/harem anime, right?
    
      For those who get the joke, no explanation is needed. For those who don't, crack open a history book.

  4. Easy Rider Kino- After Kino meets up with Wyatt, Billy, & George, she finds one doesn't necessarily need a motorad to take a trip. She also spends more than 3 days/2 nights in the Big Easy.

  5. Curley, Larry, & Moe'- Moe is out of town & his niece stops by for a visit. Can two stooges cope with a sickenly cute little girl whose disposition is nastier than her uncles'? Soitenly! (NOT!) Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk!

  6. Paprika Parsley Sage Rosemary & Thyme- Mrs. Tokita? I believe you're trying to seduce me.

  7. Shuffle! Cut! Deal!- Who dealt me this mess?

  8. Heck Girl- "You will never know the joys of Heaven. You will wander through a world of aggravation & whiney annoyance. There to remain for eternity."

  9. Full Metal Panic Attack, Fumufu- Due to budget cuts at Mithril, any damage to the school will be paid for out of Sagaras' own pocket. He will owe way beyond death.
        
  10. Attack of the Killer Cicadas- If you watch anime, you know they're out there. Mostly heard, rarely seen. Watching. Waiting. Massing to strike. Sequel to The Cicada That Ate Kyoto.
