What a wonderful song of praise this would make with a few word changes/rearrangements. As it is, it's a "fun happy" call to suicide as heard in End of Evangelion. If you haven't seen this movie & you'd like your mind to be blown, then check this one out. To fully understand it though you'd have to see the 26 episode series that preceded it & that can be a drag. Evangelion Death & Rebirth may be a help, though inadequate. All the same ..... enjoy.

The thing about shows like Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Gurren Lagann, and even FMA and Haruhi is that, as a newfag anime watcher, I don't feel that I've watched /enough/ shows to fully appreciate how 'good' those shows are.
ReplyDeleteY'know when you first start watching anime, the first thing you see seems either super lame or super cool? It's disconcerting when you see that the show you thought was super lame is regarded as one of the masterpieces of animation, or when you see that the show you thought was super cool is regarded as trash.
I'm all for differing perspectives, but it's hard to judge for quality when you haven't seen much of it.
As for how that relates to your post: it doesn't, because I haven't seen Evangelion.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is worth a look-see as it's one of the better "giant robot" shows. Watch the "first" 24 eps, skip 25 & 26, then go into the End of Evangelion movie. End will blow your mind out the back of your head.
ReplyDeleteYou seemed to have "lucked" into watching the good stuff first. Don't "worry" as "90% of everything is crap" you'll get to seeing some junk pretty quick. From what I've been seeing of your blog you've already been viewing a good share of the dross.
