In the space of a week I find they're trying to make Captain America a queer and now this crap:

in the great Wal-Mart to the north.

It reminds me of the All In the Family TV show. Every so often Archie says something that makes perfect sense among all the scripted negative propaganda he spouts, but ... since it's Archie saying it ... IT'S GOTTA' BE WRONG!

A better show at the time was Wait 'Til Your Father Gets Home. A two season adult oriented cartoon by the Hanna/Barbera team. About "middle of the road" Harry Boyles' (Tom Bosley) trials and tribulations of then present day America.

True, the right was really put down in that show what with crazy neighbor Ralphs' (Jack Burns) racist/anti-semite vigilante group and Harrys' youngest as a grasping little capitalist.

The show also showed what a couple of boorish little hypocrites his left leaning teenage son and daughter were.

The show was "balanced". I liked that.

This present situation kind of reminds me when AC/DC ... er ... DC Comics had Batman running around promoting gun control. More than likely because it would have looked really lame with Superman doing it.

It seems the "lavender love" crowd is a bit put out about Russia. They don't like Russias' "anti-gay" stance.

How narrow minded! How vile! How ... so ... UN-AMERICAN!

Of course it is ... It's Russia.

I find it the height of stupidity and arrogance that one should expect a people who literally live on THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD to think and act as they do. Such fools are no better than the neo conservatives who think they can transform places like Iraq and Afghanistan into mirror images of the "good ole U.S.A." (Complete with shopping malls, fast food joints, porno shops and liquor stores.).

Shoot! The idiots in the past Soviet government learned their lesson about Afghanistan. Why can't the idiots in our own government do the same?

I over heard a conversation by some not so gay "gays" (They weren't even cheerful.) cursing Russia as a broadcast from Sochi was airing.

"Damn Russia! They're so behind the curve."

"These games are their way of saying they're the best. Fuck you!"

And on and on.

Behind the curve? Whose curve? Yours?

Maybe they have a curve of their own. Maybe they don't have a curve, period. Maybe they don't give a damn about curves (Except the feminine ones. Vive la differance! Poor fools ... You don't know what you're missing!). Maybe they're not afraid of your "influence" and don't care what you think.

A perfect illustration of the type of people/mentality that MUST wilt before the
inevitable might and righteousness of effeminate indignation. Not bloody likely ...

Be that as it may, consider these facts:

1. Russia is NOT the U.S.A. - They are an actual people, ethnicity, NATION. Not a polyglot empire like the United States. The Soviet Empire is, thankfully, long gone but the actual RUSSIANS remain (As do the the other two branches, the Belarussians and Ukranians.). You can not expect them or their government to think, act, and do as you do. You can only expect them to think, act, and do as Russians do.

Russia may be "backward" from various perspectives but you have to keep in mind:

2. When you talk about Russians, you're talking about a people who, FOR OVER A THOUSAND YEARS, have repelled, fought, endured one foriegn invasion/occupation after another. Most recently, the Axis onslaught of  almost seventy years ago. These folks are the main reason why Fascism was crushed once and for all. What makes you think they're going to be shaking in their shoes at the thought of you?

3. Many of these ordeals they went through while under the heels of some of the most brutal dictatorships imaginable. And I'm not only referring to those royale assholes, Joe Stalin and Vladimir Lenin. The various kings, czars, despots of ages past taught the reds a thing or ten about the implementation of oppression.

Natural Selection: It's a GOOD thing!

The above amounts to a winnowing out process of natural selection that has left an unbelievably tough, hardy people in place (Hell, their women are more rugged than I am!). It is also partly why they have a low population growth (Homosexuality is NOT an answer to that.).

No doubt some have indulged in fantasies of someone teaching the Russians a lesson militarily. NOT a good idea. The Russians may not have won every fight they were in, but they ALWAYS made sure the other guy didn't either.

DON'T ... mess with Mother Russia. She's a MOTHER!

The 'Vark's Spleen, She Is Vented.

This is an opinion piece. Please to note that no harm is wished upon anyone. It merely examines cultural change in my lifetime. It should be read in the context of my extant writing, opinions, and clear motivators, as well as in the setting of my life as you know me to be. That I see a need for this preamble is a more strident indictment of our society and culture than it is a flag about my stated opinions below.

Nothing is the same anymore. Candy bars do not taste right. Baby Ruth tastes like Payday with chocolate and a soupçon of industrial waste. Tattoos and piercings, formerly the decoration of the Lower Classes, have now become Chic and Trendy (although if Dear Leader continues his work, the Chic and Trendy will become the lower class). Love of country was de rigueur, now it is aberrant and atavistic. Aberration itself is the New Normal. Joe Haldeman's The Forever War deals with a soldier who goes on multiple missions to space wars on board vessels that travel at relativistic speeds. He doesn't age, but generations pass on earth, and with them, the cultural distinctives of those generations. Eventually he comes back to an Earth where homosexuality predominates, and his preference for women earns him the moniker "The Old Queer".

I know somewhat how he felt. I live in a culture that has given up sane standards of behavior, and has jettisoned consistency. I come from a time when there was the Correct, and there was the Aberrant. The Aberrant was viewed as alien, mistrusted, and often ridiculed. What a difference a couple of generations (and PR.) makes. What was once villified as the Sin Not to be Named has become a Civic Virtue, and Normal. A decades-long public relations campaign has paid off. For as long as, the homosexual, the mincing, lisping fageler, has been a mainstay of funmaking. Practically every country ridicules homosexual activity and 'lifestyle.' Anime series often have a homosexual character displaying unrequited feelings for the main character for comic relief. We know 'what ain't quite right,' and humor reveals it. As to cultural inconsistency, our alleged science-mad society completely ignores the Darwinist and Gouldian evolutionary dogmas to accept homosexuality as anything other than what those very dogmas would maintain: that homosexual behavior is an evolutionary dead-end, and should be avoided for The Good of the Human Race.

What has brought us here? Only a massive and universal  PR campaign to render three-to-five percent of the population as fit for human society. Not merely fit, but lionized. What is a tiny minority of the body politic has become a great mouth, a whine machine demanding that all of Western culture be bent to the minority's will. This is ultimately where democracy fails: it is not the quantity, it is the decibels, and bruvvah, they have been loud. They have invented rights where none before existed, and in so doing diminished the rights of the majority. Where new "rights" are invented, new mechanisms must be developed to administer those rights, and the price tag for such instrumentality is borne by the majority through taxation. "What will equal marriage rights do? How will they affect you?"

In the Bottom Line.

Now let it not be assumed that I am some throwback crank with an 'anti' axe to grind. I've paid my dues. I've lived amongst them. My father was a homosexual (he pauses, waiting for the inevitable stupid comment like "Well, you're here....")  Let's say that I was the result of a foray into an alternative lifestyle. By living in such company, I harbor no illusions about homosexual behavior. I have seen the crudity and demeaning nature of "the lifestyle", and have been pawed as a teen by "friends" of my father. There is nothing better for your self-esteem than to see one's father's exploits on the high school bathroom wall. I have a good number of friends who are homosexual, and they tend to be the crudest people of my acquaintance. I say this not to point the bony finger of indignation, but to give the lie to the high pretensions of those who most loudly promote the homosexual agenda.

On the flip side, I must say that I am live-and-let-live. I do not enthrall all of my reader with tales of The Sensuous 'Vark. The Dread Dormomoo's and my connubial deliberations are off-limits. Please make your private practises Not My Business. I do not participate in Straight Pride Parades. I DO poke fun at "End The Silence" days, because, really, hasn't it been rabbited on about for decades, now? I recognise that the anti-bully message is largely "don't bully effeminate boys". But neither do I throw stones, or insult them, or militate against the marching minority. Please, just leave me alone. Keep your hands to yourself, especially, hands off my wallet.

General definition: Fear of homosexuals/homosexuality.

Actual usage by many homosexuals & their sympathizers:

1. A buzz word for denigrating any person in disagreement/opposition or any perceived form of disagreement/oppostion.

2. Anyone/anything homosexuals don't like.

Some months ago, I started posting my anime fanfiction on the fanfiction.net website (When there, look up author C V Ford.). Thought I'd expand my exposure & I've done OK so far.

The site gives any reader an option to review a story & I've had a few, most of them favorable, a couple less so. Unfavorable reviews don't bother me as they're usually informative/constructive. As for any "malicious" or snarky ones ... well ... That's the risk you take. One kind of got me to wondering.

Some time back I posted an Azumanga Daioh fanfic titled "Not So Oblivious". To make a long story description short, the Kaorin character is "scared straight" albeit in a good way. So far I have gotten two positive reviews & one on the negative side.

The "negative" one was in two short words: "How sad".

Hmmm ... Not exactly a comment made out of unbridled joy. As for me, I'm the sentimental type. I cry when I see no smoking signs.

It got me to thinking. Was this reviewer ... THAT way?

I took a look at his/her profile page & sure enough ... he/she is. Bi & VERY proud of it.

As anyone who knows me can tell you, my views on homosexuality are less than favorable. I will only say that we are ALL one day coming before the Lord to be judged for something(s) or other & I pray we will all find the surprise to be pleasant.

As for the reviewer in question:

If he's bisexual, why would he think the ending of the story to be "how sad"? If he swings both ways, the ending really shouldn't have mattered, would it?

If he's secure in his "lifestyle"/identity, etc., why would he feel a need to make such a comment?

Was he making a joke? ... or ...

Maybe he really didn't care much for the story ... OK.

Or maybe he's just a heterophobe.
