Marijuana Legalization In Ohio: The Good News and the Bad News
The good news is ...
Marijuana is STILL illegal in Ohio.
The bad news is ...
Marijuana is STILL illegal in Ohio.
Look ... I'm all for the DECRIMINALISING of weed. The laws are stupid. There are too many people in jail who shouldn't be. The present situation hardly protects anyone. And it short circuits natural selection.
But Legalize!?
Issue 3, if it had become part of the Ohio constitution, was a bad deal.
It would have made for even more stupid law. Folks in jail would have still had to fill out sentences. It would have increased the size, reach and expense of government. And it would have granted, TO A SELECT FEW, the green light to operate "plantations" for the growing of weed thus creating a tax funded, government approved monopoly.
Someone was going to come out ahead but it wasn't going to be the taxpayer and/or necessarily the smoker.
It was a bad deal all around.
